Prevention Perspectives: Substance Misuse and Overdose Among Urban Native Populations

June 5, 2024 | 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. ET

Join the National Council for Urban Indian Health (NCUIH) for a discussion on substance misuse and overdose prevention. This standalone virtual event will include a brief presentation of findings from NCUIH’s 2024 opioid needs assessment and provide a space for Urban Indian Organizations (UIOs) to share insights and best practices in preventing substance misuse and opioid overdoses. Each UIO* with participating staff will receive a stipend of $75+ for their organization.

NCUIH-Led Presentation and Guided Discussion By:

  • Sophie Chishty, Research Associate
  • Nahla Holland, Research Associate

Objectives:

  1. Increase awareness of resources and services related to substance misuse and overdose prevention;
  2. Enhance understanding of successes, challenges, and needs of UIOs providing services related to substance misuse and overdose prevention; and,
  3. Foster connections between UIOs and facilitate conversations on insights and best practices.

Only UIOs receiving funds from the Indian Health Service pursuant to the Indian Health Care Improvement Act are eligible to receive this stipend.
