Short Abstract:

The hottest topic in Washington right now besides the FY2010 Budget is health care reform and the multitude of health care reform proposals floating around Washington. President Obama announced that major health care reform will be his chief priority for his first year in office. Senator Baucus has also announced that he intends to introduce and move a major reform package through Congress by the end of June. Various groups representing consumers, insurance companies, business interests, consumer groups, health care providers, and minority organizations have all put forward their policy statements on health care reform. If Native Americans are going to be heard during this time, the national Indian organizations must also produce policy statements.
