Short Abstract: In 1981 the Indian Health Service conducted a comprehensive needs assessment not bound to the current locations of the urban Indian health programs. This was not only the last study conducted on the needs of the urban Indian community, but the most comprehensive needs assessment conducted for the urban Indian community by any federal agency. This study is the basis upon which NCUIH has developed its own recommendations for a new needs assessment.
