These descriptions may appear to be tribal or community specific in nature but in reality have cross-cultural similarities. These descriptions can offer the reader a perspective of common values keeping in mind the differences among indigenous people. It is also important to be aware that many of these values while have been romanticized resulting in stereotyping natives as being passive and/or noble savages. In the reality of native life, these values and rules of conduct are the unspoken code of ethics that are part of their daily living as individuals and community.
