Short Abstract: 28 years into the Epidemic, HIV/AIDS continues to recieve national attention as the number of new infections continues to rise. Populations of color have been disproportionately impacted by this disease, and American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian communities present statistics that consistantly point to a growing health disparity.

Abstract: 28 years into the epidemic, HIV/AIDS continues to receive national attention as the number of new infections continues to rise. Populations of color have been disproportionately impacted by this disease, and American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian communities present statistics that consistently point to a growing health disparity. American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiians (AI/AN/NH) have significant issues that create that need to be addressed, that directly impact the risk if HIV in Native communities. These factors include HIV infection rates, health/data surveillance issues, co-factors and cultural and historical issues.
