Short Abstract:
Today, millions of women depend on a health care system that is failing them. They struggle to get necessary health care or go without it altogether. Unequal access to high-quality health care leads to poorer health outcomes, particularly for women of color, poor women, immigrant women, women identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT), women with disabilities, women living in rural communities, and women with both chronic and acute medical conditions. Considering women’s experiences with our health system, it is no wonder that in a recent poll over 80% of women said that it is extremely or very important for Congress and the new Administration to guarantee access to quality, affordable, comprehensive health care.
