Short Abstract:
One of the major battles that Urban Indian Health Program has had to fight under the previous Administration revolved around the Congressional intent to fund and maintain the Urban Indian Health Program. While Congress was explicit in its intent to maintain the program in the FY2007, FY2008, and FY2009 Budget Appropriations Acts, the underlying argument that it is not the federals responsibility, and should not be the federal governments policy to provide health care to Indians off the reservation, is still very much alive.
